ESTS ZipSmart Delivery & Pickup

Set up Locations, Zipcode Rules, Time Slots, and a great cart experience.

      Let's get started by following this guide.


1.  Welcome & Overview

- What the app does:
  - Adds a simple “Delivery & Pickup” choice to your cart page.
  - Lets customers choose Local Delivery, Store Pickup, or Standard Shipping.
  - Collects a preferred delivery/pickup date and time slot.
  - Validates zip codes for Local Delivery so you only deliver to areas you serve.
- How it helps increase conversions:
  - Reduces friction by showing delivery options early in the cart.
  - Lets customers schedule their preferred time, improving checkout confidence.
  - Avoids failed deliveries by validating serviceable zip codes at the cart stage.
- Problems it solves:
  - Unclear delivery expectations.
  - Orders from non-serviceable zip codes.
  - Manual back-and-forth to confirm delivery timings.



2.  Getting Started  
Follow these steps the first time you install the app:
  - Install the app from your Shopify admin.
    Enable delivery options in Settings:
  - Open the app → Admin Setting.
  - Enable “Local Delivery” and/or “Store Pickup”.
  - Recommended initial configuration order:
  - Add Locations (store addresses/timezones).
  - Add Zipcode Rules (areas you deliver to).
  - Create Time Slots (days and time windows customers can select).
  - Add Blackout Dates (holidays, closures).
  - Enable delivery types in Settings.
  - Confirm the block is added to the Cart page.

3.  How to Set Up Locations
- Where to go: Open the app → Locations.
- How to add a location:
  - Click “Add Location”.
  - Fill in:
    - Location name: A short, clear name (e.g., “Downtown Store”).
    - Address details: Street, city, zip/postal code.
    - Timezone: Choose the timezone of this location.
  - Save.
- When to use multiple locations:
  - You have more than one pickup store.
  - You operate in different regions with different time windows.
- Tips for naming locations:
  - Keep names short and recognizable.
  - Include city or area if you have many stores .



4. How to Set Delivery Zipcodes
- Where to go: Open the app → Zipcode Rules.
- Add a single zipcode:
  - Enter a zip/postal code (e.g., 10001).
  - Click “Add Zipcode”.
- Upload a CSV list:
  - Prepare a CSV file with one zipcode per line.
  - Upload it to quickly add multiple zipcodes.
- What happens when a zipcode is not allowed:
  - Customers will see a message on the cart: “Zipcode not available for delivery”.
  - They can still choose Pickup or Standard Shipping.
- Best practices:
  - Keep the list focused on your actual service area.
  - Review and update periodically if your coverage changes.



5.  How to Create Time Slots
- Where to go: Open the app → Locations → “Time slots & limits”.
- Add time slots:
  - Choose a day (Monday–Sunday).
  - Enter a start time and end time (e.g., 10:00–12:00).
  - Optional: Set “Order limit” to indicate capacity per slot (for internal planning).
  - Save.
- How slots appear to customers:
  - Customers first pick a date on the cart page.
  - Then they see time slots available for that day and choose one.



- Notes:
  - If no slot exists for a selected day, customers will see “No slots available”.
  - “Order limit” is an internal capacity field; customers don’t see the number.

6.  How to Add Blackout Dates
- Why use blackout dates:
  - Prevent scheduling on holidays, inventory counts, store events, or closures.
- How to block holidays:
  - Open the app → Locations → “Block dates & times”.
  - Add dates with an optional reason (e.g., “New Year’s Day”).



- How it affects customers:
  - Use blackout dates alongside time slots. If a date is blocked, avoid adding slots for that date.
  - If slots exist for a blocked date, customers might still see them; review slots when you add blackout dates.

7.  Frontend Customer Experience (Cart Page)
- Add the “Delivery Scheduler” block to your Cart page:
  - Go to Online Store → Customize (Theme Editor).
  - Open your Cart template.
  - Add block → select “Delivery Scheduler”.
  - Save changes.





- Your customers will see:
  - A “Delivery & Pickup” panel with three choices:
    - Local Delivery
    - Store Pickup
    - Standard Shipping
  - Local Delivery flow:
    - Customer enters their zip code and clicks “Check”.
    - If allowed, they choose a date and a time slot.
  - Store Pickup flow:
    - Customer chooses a date and a time slot.
    - Customer selects a pickup location (if you’ve added multiple).
  - Standard Shipping flow:
    - Customer chooses a date and a time slot (optional, depending on your operations).



  - Confirmation:
    - After clicking “Confirm”, the selection is saved to the cart.
    - Customers see a confirmation message with the selected option, date, and time.

8.  Order Management
- Where delivery details appear:
  - In Shopify Orders under “Additional details”, you’ll see the customer’s selection:
    - Delivery Type (Local Delivery / Store Pickup / Standard Shipping)
    - Delivery Date
    - Delivery Time
    - Pickup Location (for Store Pickup)
    - Zipcode (for Local Delivery)



- How to use this information:
  - Plan daily routes and staffing using dates and time slots.
  - Prepare pickup orders for the correct store location.
  - Verify delivery service areas using the zip code on the order.

9.  Recommended Setup Flow (Best Practice)
- Add your locations (with clear names and correct timezones).
- Add zipcodes for Local Delivery coverage.
- Create time slots for each day you operate.
- Add blackout dates for holidays or closures.
- Enable Local Delivery and/or Store Pickup in Settings.
- Add the “Delivery Scheduler” block to the Cart page and save.
- Place a test order to confirm the customer experience end-to-end.

10.  Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Why is the widget not showing?
  - Ensure the “Delivery Scheduler” block is added to your Cart template and saved.
  - Confirm you’re viewing the Cart page, not a product page.
  - In Settings, enable at least one option (Local Delivery or Store Pickup).
- Why are time slots not appearing?
  - Customers must select a date first.
  - Make sure you’ve created time slots for that day.
  - If you added blackout dates, remove any slots that fall on those dates.
- Why is the zipcode not validating?
  - Confirm the zipcode is added in Zipcode Rules.
  - Customers must click “Check” after entering their zip code.
- Can I disable a delivery method?
  - Yes. In Settings, uncheck “Enable Local Delivery” or “Enable Store Pickup”.
- How do I manage multiple pickup stores?
  - Add each store as a separate Location with a clear name.
  - Customers select a location when they choose Store Pickup.
